June 2008 DVI has recently renamed its preventative health care unit, "The Donald Berman Preventative Oral Health Care Unit" in memory of the late Mr. Donald Berman of Montreal, Canada. The Donald Berman Preventative Oral Health Care Unit has a monthly intake of 600 children and parents. One of the backbones of the DVI clinic is education. Only with changed habits and proper care, will the children treated at the clinic ensure a life of healthy teeth. This is the role of The Donald Berman Preventative Oral Health Care Unit - to educate the children and their families about proper oral health, through teaching sessions, regular checkups with the hygienist and published educational materials. The self-empowerment given the children and their families through education and proper care at The Donald Berman Preventative Oral Health Care Unit is an eloquent and lasting perpetuation of Mr. Berman's memory.
